Hello Mara and Doug. Are using the WYISWYG editor or the standard editor on the Forum?

Oh dear, I have absolutely no idea re either editor, Goku - eep!

For instance, all I've been doing is opening a normal 'message box', adding text by copy and paste - and having it show scrambled. Is there a magic button somewhere here I can use to re the option of editors you mentioned?

Would you please be kind enough to lead me through it when you have a chance?

Thanks ever so much once again!

Goku, I should have added that it's a bit late here so heading to bed (would hate to think of you working away at helping right away - wow, the time difference between our two Countries is vast!).

Hello Mara. Don't worry about the editors. Took me a lifetime to figure that out myself. :D

WYISWYG is an abbreviation for "What you see if what you get". When I say the WYISWYG editor, I mean that your reply box should be similar to this:

If you have got the standard editor activated, like me, your Quick Reply box should appear like this, after it is activated.

    .

Let me know how it looks like and I will post with further instructions.

    Hope that helps.

Hi Goku has hi the nail on the head, the default for the post window is not set to WYSIWYG so all the text formatting is removed so to get the text formatting you would have to enter the code which would look like this

    [.B][.U][.COLOR=red][.FONT=&quot][.SIZE=4]Please Note[./SIZE][./FONT][./COLOR][./U][./B]

In the top right corner of the Quick Post Box and Advanced Editor box there is a little button with two A's if you Click on it it will swap editor modes and the Text box colour will change to pale blue and if you remove the full stops then the above will display as

    Please Note

while in this mode if you paste anything into the text box it should keep its formatting if the Vbulletin software can support it

Hello Mara. The solution is exactly what Match says. However you will need to switch to WYISWYG mode every time when you want to copy and paste the text from another source.

There is an easy way to set WYISWYG editor as the default, if you prefer it. Here are the instructions to do so.
    1. Go to your control panel by clicking the User CP link on the top of this page.
    2. On the left side of the page, click on the Edit Options link under the Settings & Options category.
    3. Scroll down to the Miscellaneous Options category and find the Message Editor Interface section.
    4. Click on the drop-down menu and select the editor mode that suits you best.
    5. Press the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page when you are done.
Try the different modes and see which one you like best. Then switch between them, when you need to by using Match's suggestion.

    Hope that helps. :)

Both Match and Goku are absolutely correct. I will add to Goku's one fine point which is of you mke WYSIWYG (Enhanced) as your basic format the A/A box in the upper corner will then allow you to use the standard input format.

When we got started there was a discussion about this and it was decided to leave things as is. I am now beginning to think that WYSIWYG should be the forum default.

I do remember saying that wysiwyg would be better as default for new members :p

Even if we change the default it will only apply to new members. It is a registration default. There may be a way of mass editing the preference but I don't think we should go that route.

DON'T or you shall have to face my wrath. :D

Yeah, yeah. No need to say "I told you so".

Funny though it wasn't set as default though since I technically was outvoted in the poll. Guess, people fear me. :p
