Taking A Long Time To Access Pages

Recently i've been having difficulty accessing/opening sites. This includes sites that are on my desktop, bookmarks as well as my email. All i do is watch the circle go round & round & then it freezes. Eventually i'll access the site after a long waiting period. The above still occurs even after i use use ATF & TFC cleaners as well as AdWare Cleaner & JRT. I'm wondering if the above could be influenced by the recent windows updates? Any assistance would be appreciated.

 

Hi, I would suggest this sounds more like an internet connection problem.
Go to this site and run a speed check, if it is slow and much slower than the speed you are supposed to get, you may have a faulty line or connection. In which case you need to contact your ISP and line provider if different from your ISP.

Do you know what your download speeds are supposed to be?
Though 5.8Mbps is a tad slow, it isn't that bad, though some slowness in page opening will be seen at that slow a speed, especially if the ISP rated download speed should be much higher, as such a slow speed does intimate a connection problem.
Also which browser are you using, is it Internet Explorer, Firefox, or some other?

I'll give my isp, (Hotwire) a call & listen to their excuses. My browser is Firefox.

 

N3 have you gone the route of resetting the modem and router first to see if it makes a difference because if it does you may need a new one or the other but lately I am finding modems seem to last less and less time with a constant good speed.

I've noticed that eventually i can access the pages after waiting about two minutes.

 

Unless you have a lot running in startup that is more than likely an isp issue.

 

WinPatrol states i have ten startup programs.

 

OK that's a lot now what are they?

 

Rich...Regardless of how many startup programs i have, the problem started approximately four days ago. Everything was working fine before then.

 

Probably last week Cindy, but we should do that again as I agree with you. N3, I am trying to bury you with work but 10 items is way too much. Please tell us what those entries are.

 

Cindy.......I recently scanned my computer for malware with all of my anti-malware programs & came up with nothing. I am aware that there are more indepth antimalware programs that a specialist would have me run.

Rich....When i access "msconfig", system configuration startup, i have 13 startup programs. When running WinPatrol it states 10 startup programs. Which one do you want to know what entries are in?

 

I would rather have msconfig as there always are a few there not in WP.

 

How do i copy the system configuration startup files?
