Can anyone tell me what the best practice is for system restore on a Windows
XP machine? I had someone tell me that system restore should be turned off
because of a potential for viruses or malware residing in the system restore
    files. Thanks for any assistance.

Viruses and malware do not "reside" in Restore Points themselves, but if you
use such a Restore Point, the likelihood of reinfection is very high. This
is why one "flushes" System Restore /after/ cleaning up a hijackware
    infection.

Tip: Better to have a leaky lifeboat than no lifeboat at all!

Thanks. That is what I thought. How do you flush system restore after an
    infection?

  4. Disable it then re-enable it.
