Good point Ray the needs years ago were quite different, yet somehow we know to grow them.

I am going to retry using both the card and the onboard device I hope it works! I'll let you know what happens.

It really should. I ran that way on Paltalk in my Amd pc using the soundcard for the speakers and the mic and headset from the front audio ports.

You should have no issues using the two together. Now trying that on windows 98 I would say not a chance.

Guys I finally got it to work :) both the board sound and also my new soundcard but I just used the software driver that Microsoft already has for the board. After I uninstalled the board sound software which was "Realtek" HD 5.1 it was still working after the reboot! So I left it that way and now I have it running my speakers and I use the card for gaming and my headset. It works out wonderfully too. I do not have the sound configuration thing I had before for the board sound but the one the operating system has for it seems just fine. Anyway thank you all for the help this is now resolved I appreciate you guys taking the time out for me.

Glad you got it working. The realtek software wanted to control things no doubt and wouldn't allow it.

I think so that was my thoughts. I am really enjoying the system totally now! I though I look at my frame rates they are ok but I use a huge 27 inch flat screen and in Far Cry 4 it dips low but that is only if I have the game maxed. I'm just totally stoked and appreciative of the help here, and that I was able to save the system after a power supply failure, and now my sound is perfect :) Now I need to read up in this forum on other technical things. I would maybe like to upgrade my video card in the foreseeable future though. Something like the new ATI 390 or GTX 970 everyone is raving about.

Software like that often wants to take control and it's not really needed to be honest. I never use it. Any time you need help or advice we're here.

Long before I was in this business I was learning on forums just like this and if you simply read "new posts" you would be surprised at what you can learn.
