I hook up my svga cable to my TV and the icons on my computer go to 200%. Is there a way to avoid this? once I unplug the cable the computer resizes but the icons don't go back to the way I set them up. I have a Toshiba Satellite with windows vista.

Thanks in advance for your help

What I think is happening is that you have not created settings for a second screen or monitor. Go to your graphics properties by right clicking on your desktop and set the number 2 settings. Check with your TV manual for the settings or give us some information about the TV so we can make recommendations.

I have never used Vista but since Windows 7 does not differ much from XP in this regard I will try to give you some guidance.

The SVGA connection is not much different than the VGA it replaced. The first thing you have to do is find out what the best resolution setting is for a 26 inch. You will be able to experiment with the different resolution settings but as a guide I would start with 1366 x 768 and move upwards from there,

Go to your desktop and and right click on an open space. You will get a drop down menu that will at least have "Screen Resolution" If not you will need to go to graphics properties and proceed from there.

You should see a widow with two numbered screens. Click on number 2 and attach your TV. The TV should show up as number 2 if it does not press the detect button. It should recognize the the TV. From that window you can adjust the resolution settings. If that does not work come back to us and I will try to find someone with a bit more knowledge of what may be wrong.
