TBH I would think all pensions /Investments have suffered with the global downturn, but I have 25 years before I really need to worry/Panic but in saying that the goverment are talking of raising the retirement age anyway :( because now that they have made people live healthier lives they are expecting them to live longer so although they are saving money on the NHS short term they will loose money long term in pension payments so there answer, make them work longer

lol meaning less jobs for the younger, ever had the feeling they should have just left things alone :)

Compulsory Superannuation here, and the Government I think will Phase out Pensions altogether in years to come.Think thats their Plan.
I also think all Pensions, will be privatized, and each pays towards their own Pension insurance.
In the UK,I read some Right Wingers, were toying with this idea,as far back as 1993.

Not far off now TBH back in 86 I had the option and a cash insentive to contract out my state pension, which I took and started my own private pension as well.

so technically I don't have a state pension, so Its only one step from scrapping the state pension
