stuck in safe mode

    i am running windows 98 on my computer. everytime i try to start the comp it automatically goes to safemode...i have gone to the startup menu where u can select safemode ,normal mode etc. but even when i select normal mode it will load in safemode. how do i get out of it??? thanks for any help.
