I was away from my computer for a week and I turned it on today and i get a message saying " Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device"

I don't even get to the login screen, I just get the message. This is a built computer, it's been working perfectly for 2 years now. I run with Windows 7 Ultimate and an AMD Motherboard and Raedon Graphic Hard.

This is getting really annoying, can someone help me, please?
    Thanks

The first question I have is, does it actually boot at all or does it stop dead with the message?

It turns on, it shows my Motherboard logo and then I get the message. Stops there.

Take a look in the bios and see if it is recognizing your hard drive. If it is asking you to select a boot device it may mean that is is not recognizing the drive at all and, since there is nothing in the optical drive it stops there.

OK if this is a built computer, how many hard drives did it have? When you left it, was it running or off?

Check all of your connections and make certain that there is a secure connection and no bent pins, etc. If you only had the one drive, was it SATA with a small L shaped connection or was it connected with a ribbon cable?

A Sata connection is small, the cable is usually red and the two ends have small black connectors. An Ide cable or Ribbon cable is flat and wide ussually about two inches wide with large broad connectors. If you need photos we will grab some for you. I thought I had them but I don't.

Have you checked all connections are firm?
Seems odd all of a sudden Windows doesn't recognize the Hard Drive.
Have you made any changes with the Hardware?
Unless the Hard Drive has died of course.
If the Bios still doesn't recognize the IDE hard drive I suggest you remove the hard drive and test in another working Computer.
