Sony recently declared that they had 2 other ways of making the new PS3 Slim, even slimmer. The alternatives were either, get rid of the Harddrive, and using purely online or "cloud" computing, but decided the technology wasn't upto standard yet. Maybe when the government sorts out the whole "optical fibre broadband for every home" problem, speeds mights be fast enough to actually depends on a server elsewhere.
