    Nice one Match, that link seems to pull together all of 'wise' info available on the Internet - I have it bookmarked :)

    Another tip for people on long ADSL lines with a slow connection is to use a Netgear DG834 variant, and modded firmware.

    It allows you to adjust the signal to noise ratio of the ADSL signal, and in my case doubled the connection speed.

    Just a quick word of warning here! A standard BT (British Telecoms) connection is far different from a standard US telephone jack connector. I am guessing that the principle remains the same but the colors and size differ greatly.

    Nothing to do with wiring but Ive had some good results with Cable Nut Freeware (optimising the Windows TCP/IP stack) > Here and Here

    In the UK you can get a Iplate which ha sthe same effect as removing the bell wire. There is a slightly better plate that filter noise even more and typically I get an extra meg download speed when I fit it.

    Th ebest tip is to get a high speed modem cable the cable that connect your router to the phone is a flimsy 2 wire cable which picks up noise from everywhere. The high speed cable is high quality cable and shieled its the cable people never think about bu tit can stop loads of problem from noise
