Thank you for taking the time to read my inquiry.
My computer lost its use of the sound card. In the device manager it simply states "No Audio Device" under the Volume tab, while under the Hardware tab it recognizes the hardware and states its working properly. The device is also "enabled" according to the Properties.

When I try to play ANY audio from ANY source I get the following error message: "... cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

After spending hours checking for the minor details and drivers and trying all recomendations, I went out and bought a new soundcard and ran into the same problem. I can assure you this is not a typical no-brainer issue!

Any help would be greately appreciated.

Could you please visit: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html and run the advisor tool on your PC and give me the information in the "MULTIMEDIA" column on the right hand side so I can get a better idea of what we are dealing with here. And also anything that is listed in the "OTHER DEVICES" category.
