I'm using a free version of "Hoopla" which allows me twelve free movie/tv downloads per month. Recently microsoft wants me to download "Silverlight" in order to view the above. Microsoft (Internet Explorer), gives me the option of Save or Run when downloading. Which one should i choose?

Update Silverlight through Windows Update that way you know the file is the correct one.

Always preferred to Save & then Run from location... thus one always (still) has the installer & if ever wanting to re-install something, it's (still) right @ one's fingertips, no need to download (or find) over again. This is put forth as a general rule of thumb.

I see your point but doesn't always work that way. I always Save and by the time which maybe for example 2 or 3 yrs,
I find I have an out dated version anyway and still have to find and download the latest version.
I save and install, and when I am sure all is working well, I delete the saved download.
Really serves no purpose to keep in downloads in today's environment, with updates coming thick and fast.

Actually I still download and run. I save the old version even if there is a new version, until I verify that the new version is working as expected.

Exactly... certainly the installer is kept up to date, replaced by & when a new version & 'the old' only kept if or until no longer any smart reason to still keep... a rather mundane but, ok example is new versions of CCleaner... save & keep (one) updated installer & dump the old after the new is in & working.

The other point is, oft when something seems to be awry, one may uninstall & re-install as a 1st basic possible way to have things back on track. This is before any update may come down the pike. And, if the installer has been saved that can be done w/out having to find and re-download whatever it was, again... you have it.

It does no harm & can / may sometime be appreciated.
