Shared Folder Permissions

    Christian Guest

    I am running Server 2003 R2 SP2.

I have a shared folder that all domain users have access too. In the shared
folder tehre are, obviously, subfolders and files and each subfolder has
subfolders and files. We have a problem with users moving the main folder to
other folders by accident. Is there a way to set permissions to stop this?
How about the subfolders? Basically I want the users to be able to add files
and folders and work on the files and folders, but I dont want the folders
    moved.

    any help is appreciated!

    thanks!

  2. Hello Christian,
You can restrict the MainShare under share permissions All USers (Full
Control) and under security (ntfs) prermissions All USers Read & Execute,
List Folder Contents and Read. And on each subfolder, give Users/groups
permission as necessary to perform responsibilities.

  3. Hello Christian,

Make the main share read-only and set the needed permissions for the security
groups where the users belong to. Also i would teach them the difference
    between copy and move.

    Best regards
