Server 2003 R2 (32bit and 64bit- Random reboots, running Citrix PS

I've got some servers that are Citrix Ap servers that appear to be randomly
rebooting. It can go three weeks just fine, and then reboot three times in a
    week.

I've read there could be some issues with the version of my win32k.sys file
    (currently 5.2.3790.4033) and maybe I should try v4.0.2198.1, but I can't
seem to find this particular version. There is perhaps a conflict with the
win32k.sys and wdica.sys that Citrix uses, but can't find a definitive fix or
solution that pertains percisely to the versions of software I am using (or
even the file versions that could possibly help for that matter).

One odd thing that I notice is that often in the Event Viewer it will log,
for example, at 12:00pm on 11/12 and say that "The previous system shutdown
at 1:24:51 PM on 11/12/ was unexpected." 1:24 pm hasn't even happened yet.
The time by the clock is correct, so not sure where EV is getting this time.
It's never exactly an hour off or anything, which rules out possible UT or
    DST issues.

I also get different STOP codes (but usually its the first one):
    0x0000001e
    0x805000f
    0x0000007e
    0x0000003b

Running debugger on memory.dmp files will generally come up as w32k.sys as
being the probably cause. Although on the 2003 64bit servers, it comes up
inconclusive (have symbols installed for both versions).

There hasn't been any new software installed recently and no major Service
packs or anything that I can think of. It mainly just started happening
about 2 months ago. We're a non-profit hospital so just forking out the
money for support is really a big deal. I've posted on Citrix forums, but no
one really had any ideas. So here I am.

Any and all suggestions or ideas are welcomed.

  2. Hello B_Reed,

Did you phone MS support for the newer version?

    Best regards

Re: Server 2003 R2 (32bit and 64bit- Random reboots, running Citri

Thank you for your reply Meinolf. Well, it's actually an older version of
the file that was suggested being used. And no, I did not phone MS because
when I was looking at their support site, it just went on and on about costs
of opening a case and such. And while for a bigger company, that's really no
big deal, but for a small non(no)-profit hospital that has a budget smaller
than most people's bank accounts, it's tough for them to understand the
reasoning behind paying for support. [IMG]

I am hoping that someone might have had a similar problem and could remember
the cause. I'm truly at a loss and continue to research it, but I'm at the
    point of grasping straws.

Where do you see the stop code. We have an HP Ml Proliant 350 that started
rebooting randomly like yours, but I haven't see the stop code, but came
across a possible fix. See below.......................

A computer that is running an x64-based version of Windows Server 2003, of
Windows Vista, or of Windows Server 2008 randomly restarts and then generates
a Stop error. The Stop error code may be 0x0000001E, 0x000000D1, or another
    Stop error code.

This problem occurs after you install update 932596 on the computer.

  5. Server 2003 R2 (32bit and 64bit- Random reboots, running Citri

    Hello,

Did you find an answer / solution for your problem? I have the same problem here. Running 2003 x64 & Citrix XenApp 4.5 FR4 and the Terminal-Server are rebooting randomly.

Because of the different stop - erros MS said that this are different errors and they can't support this.

KB 932596 isn't installed on our servers.

I would be very happy if you post your experiences to this problem.

    Thanks and greets.
