What is the opinion of "Secunia Psi" as a notifier/updater?

Hap you know I am not a big fan of this type of software but I believe this one to be quite helpful. I think Cindy is a big fan if I remember right.

I was a fan of the Secunia OSI but the online scanner is no longer available. I personally think
the PSI (which you have to download) is clunky and slow. It's not worth the drag it places on
    your computer.

Exactly what I thought as I had no interest installing a clunky program but I didn't realize the online scan is gone either. In fact I ma getting really "testy" lately on installing anything third party unless I think it is really necessary.
The old attitude we used to have on the old BBS was if it isn't in Windows already it probably will slow the system down and isn't really necessary. One real shocker came when I realized that all those "Start Menu" additives to Windows 8 actually made it boot slower than Windows 7.
