    Please pay close attention to the points and suggestions made above, but I also have a question. I do not play games on a computer, and have little understanding of them.

    When playing your games, does this involve putting a disk into the DVD drive? And if it does, could any noises you are hearing come from the DVD drive its self?

    If none of what I have said above is applicable. Then could you please answer Dragnets question in post #19.

    And...I will second what Plastic Nev has said regarding working on the laptop yourself.

    Good morning :)
    I have just spent a few hours trying to get my computer back on. It was apparantly not in the mood today, barely no green/red ish blurry screen, only very dark blue with nothing on it. It seems that the computer runs even though the screen doesn't work though.. I have attached my stationairy monitor to see if that works when the laptop screen breaks down.

    I have tried this a few times, and it doesn't seem to help much, altough I am not entirely sure.

    This makes a lot sense to me. Is there any way I can verify if this is the problem? And I would appreciate if you would post the link to the tutorial, even though I doubt I'll try to fix the problem myself.

    @PseFrank
    I have not used any cds, so I doubt the sound comes from there.

    Thanks a lot everyone :)

    Well, the laptop has seemingly given up. I have set up my old stationary. The sound only came the first few times and hasn't been appearing as of late. I managed to plug in my stationary monitor to the laptop, but it went blurry as well when the laptop failed. (I had it set up as a second screen, so I was using both screens at the same time). Now the laptop is mainly just very dark blue when I start it. You can't see anything there, but you can see that it's not completely black.

    Hi if the other monitor also goes to a black screen, then that does now rule out my first thoughts of the backlight or the inverter and is now looking like a failure in the graphics. Being a laptop the graphics are usually a chip on the motherboard and requires a new motherboard to fix it.

    I will leave it open for anyone else who may have a different opinion, or even suggestions to try though, but it may need to go in for repair.
