Sure good idea Tony. I have actually 3 of them. One is for Emsisoft clients, the other for Mbam Pro and clients and the last one is for no paid product so since most of us have Mbam Pro I'll put that one up which used to be my most used prior to Emsisoft business I am doing now:

    SAFE COMPUTING

Virus:Seldom seen anymore. We use Antivirus programs more in case a virus should suddenly reappear and while these programs have some ability to deal with today’s major issues mainly spyware/malware. A virus is an installed program so major sources were email from unknowns with attachments and obviously infected websites. Microsoft Security Essentials, probably the best free one, all you really need today and far more effective than Norton, Trend Micro and MacAfee as the former has some ability to deal with spyware as well.

Spyware/Malware (Includes Trojans and Rootkits):Today’s Primary Threats. Tracking your movements, opening ports in your computer and either installed or virtual presence that slows your system to a crawl, in many cases prevents internet access, redirect’s your search attempts and shuts down ability to install programs and in extreme cases even prevents you from opening various Windows components.

Main sources are free music download sites, pornographic sites, and gaming sites.

Contributing factors are any toolbars on browsers, instant messengers, failure to update Java, Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader, needed on most websites.

Antivirus programs and Antimalware programs auto update definitions. Definitions are the descriptions of the malware. Every so often these programs need to update their programs and program updates must be installed to let those definitions work and that must be by you alone! Malwarebytes has popups suggesting program updates available but some don’t stay up long enough and don’t try hard enough to get you to do those updates so it is your responsibility to check them monthly by right clicking the tray icon and choosing “check for updates”. Please call me if you have any questions, this one point will be the difference between safe computing and a badly infected computer!

We have installed WOT (Web of Trust) and Adblock Plus on all Browsers to help you. Also Spywareblaster is added and once a month you need to open it, go to bottom of page and click “Download Latest Protection Updates”, then “check for Updates” and back to top category on the right click “Protection Status” then at bottom click “Enable all Updates”

Also Installed is Crypto Prevent. Update it once a month by opening product choosing OK, then updates, check for updates and Apply.

    Allowed Internet or Computer Popups:

You should do the following popups as updates only, no others:

    1) Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader

    2) Microsoft Windows Updates

    3) Malwarebytes Anti Malware Pro we installed

    4) Antivirus Program you are using: Good free programs are, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Avast. Good Paid programs are Nod32, Kaspersky,

    and Webroot Antivirus

    5) Java Runtime Software

All of the above are highly important to the proper running of your system. Be careful not to add suggested free services when updating them, you must uncheck them . Please do not click on any other popups without seeking advice. When closing unwanted popups, the safest way to do that is right click on the representation on the taskbar and choose “close” as many popups are programmed to install on the red “X” to close.

    6) Adblock Plus which keeps adds from the browsers

The Best Protection I Can Offer is an informed user, please read and reread this often!

The other is Miscellany not, #9 in Miscellany. And it's name should be improved to, "A Guide to Smart Computing". And, please, don't other people edit or amend it, please & thank you. If I care to add to it, will cross that bridge when and if it comes.

I think the first version of this probably was in 2005 as I have updated it many many times....I wasn't even the original writer though by now it is probably all my words.
