Hi all, seem to be running out of disc space, only 2gig left.... I've got a acer veriton tower with a split harddrive? or is it just two partitions on one drive  ...thats the way it was when i bought it ....
so C drive is nearly full, but the other partition has got 209GB left (sync & go) ? could i just drag my stuff from c to this partition ,without any bother? all my photos and other stuff that i have downloaded is on other drives (external )
don't really want to reformat drive, way to many programs will be lost ,done all the usual ,disc cleanup disc compression...and so on..
    any help would be appreciated...mark

    Hi Twitcher...

Ok...so you have all your personal pics, music, etc backed up. To move your files to (Thats move to, NOT copy) the near empty partition on your drive...Do this:

Open one of your folders...say for example Pictures (My Pictures in XP) and hit CTRL + A on the keyboard. This will highlight/select everything in the pictures folder.

Now hit CTRL + X on your keyboard. This is the cut command. Instead of just copying the highlighted files, it will...after using the paste command, move all the selected files to their new home.

Go Start > Computer and open the empty partition by double clicking on it (Or...Right click, and select Open). As soon as you have the Partition/drive open...Hit CTRL + V (Paste command)

NOTE: You may want to make a new folder to house your pics. Obviously you would do this before using the paste command.

Now the space that your pics took up on the C: drive will be free to use.

Repeat the process as needed for your Music/Videos/Documents, etc.

Hi, being an Acer, they do this strange business of splitting the drive into two partitions calling the second, usually "D" drive, "Data"

As well as Franks good advice regarding moving stuff, instead you can shrink the size of the "D" drive leaving unalocated space, you can then expand "C"drive into that space.

Let us know if you want to try that.

Further to the above, if you do decide to try moving the partition let us know please, as I have used the Easeus Partition manager previously and can describe how best to use it rather than the Windows 7 own manager. That one could be more complex as I haven't tried it myself yet.

You can do a backup on the file that does not normally use like photo and video. Also, try to delete cookies in the internet options, it can goes up to 500mb if you never delete for a long time
