Those are all nice pictures, Rich!    It's nice to see the green and the flowers now that we are in the midst of winter and Felix is certainly  a handsome cat!

If I had a bike-- well I do have two wheels and a frame but only pedals

However if I were to ever own a motorised bike it may just be hand built from scratch, with an experimental diesel engine fitted. Well I can dream can't I?

Thank you Mara and Felix loves the snow, he loves to play in it, then, like all cats, he all of a sudden wants to go back in the house to warm up.  He is one of the largest breeds of cats in the world and is almost twice the size of a normal house cat.  When I take him to the vet, for a checkup, the little kids are amazed at his size.  Even tho he is quite a large cat, you would not believe how fast he moves.  When I took him out, last week, he spotted a large rat near a dumpster, the poor thing didn't know what hit him, Felix killed him in a heartbeat.  He is a wonderful pet, warm and loving. He was the runt of the litter, but had huge beautiful eyes, that is why I picked him.

    Cheers: Rich :jump:

Just looking at your photos again, and still smiling in delight at your snow and wonderful huge kitty!

Am wondering if a Norweigian Forest Cat is similar to a 'Coon' cat as Felix looks so much like the kitty we had - and she too had very similar colour, the long hair and the heavy size.

You did well choosing him, that's for sure!

And I had to laugh out loud in delight reading that Felix loves the snow!  If he's anything like Noel was, she'd get 'ice balls' stuck all over her long fur and liked nothing better than snuggling up with me so they could melt quicker - grin.

Yes Mara, he is similar to a Maine Coon cat and Felix gets mistaken for one all the time.  I forget what the difference is I think they are both around the same size, but, I think it has to do with the shape of their head and the ears. They both have long hair and they are both huge cats.  My Felix is almost 3 years old and he is a cheeky bugger.  I have a laser pointer and it is his fave toy, he will chase it as long as I point it. :jump:  Plus, he has a very low Meow for a cat, almost a baritone, if that makes sense.  He does vocalize a lot but it is lower than most house cats.

That would explain why your beautiful furry friend and the precious kitty we had look so similar!

How I envy you, really I do, as while I love the kitties we have, nothing can ever replace Noel.

Yes, it is hard not to get attached to pets.  Felix and I bonded instantly. Like I said above, he was the runt of the litter and the pet shop owner was going to have him euthanized, so, I saved him from that fate.  When I first saw him, he was amongst his litter mates and here was this poor scrawny little guy, looking at me with his huge weird coloured eyes.  He looked so out of place, sad and scared.  So, I said, I will take him and I have no regrets.  I took care of him and we are very close.  I couldn't believe how big he got and right now, he is curled up next to my keyboard on my computer desk fast asleep and at night, he sleeps at the foot of my bed.

Just love the photos of your Felix - and how wonderful you rescued the wee scared mite!!

Reading that he's now snuggled up to the keyboard made me smile and reminded me that our Doug's Lucy used to do that while he was on the computer.  Knowing how incredibly close he was with his dear Kitty, when she died, what heartbreak he went through and still misses her so very much.

While I could be wrong, I always think that people who aren't fond of animals miss so, so much in life!

I agree Mara, I have had pets all my life and when I was in grade school, I had a real menagerie at home.  I raised pigeons, had a hamster, doves, had 2 dogs, rabbits and a raccoon.  I love dogs the most, but, I am currently single, very busy at work, it would not be fair to a dog. I don't believe in chaining them up, or putting them in a pen, so, they would be cooped up in the house all day for almost 9 hours.  Felix is all I need and as long as he has food, water and clean litter, he is fine.  His breed of cat are susceptable to kidney stones, so, he has a controlled diet.  I feed him a hybred dry cat food, tunafish, sardines and he loves chicken and he loves the lactose free kitty cream I buy him. Here is a shot of him when he was kitten.

Two of a kind Rich as far as animals are concerned. I presently have a nine year old nearly all black (A witches cat  )
Who came to me from a near ferral litter a friend took in when the mother turned up just about to give birth.
He is a large and fairly long haired cat, also has to be on a permanent light diet as he is prone to overeating and then over weight that also then runs to constipation. The vets bill to get the poor thing clear and able to "go" again was over £400. so he is monitored on his food intake.

here he is sat with me by the computer.

I have also had many other pets when younger, dogs, budgies, hamsters, and the best cat ever, James, and the best dog ever, Tag.
Tag went everywhere with me when out in the car and loved barking at motorbikes. That I am convinced came from when as a pup near to adulthood, he was on the back seat of the car, me driving, my friend Joe in the passenger seat. We had to stop for a roadworks and on a fairly hot day. Rear window was wound down enough for Tag to poke his nose out in the breeze etc.
A motorcycle came up on the nearside, (remember UK, left hand side of the road), the cyclist stopped as there was no way he could get further due to a wagon in front of us, so put his foot down to steady himself and the bike, then due to the warm weather decided to remove his helmet for some fresh air no doubt.
That was when Tag spotted this, poked his head out of the window and barked right in the poor guys ear!!
The traffic started to move and we went with it, I looked in the mirror to see this motorcyclist shaking his head in total bemusement and wriggling a finger in the ear Tag had barked into.
Joe and myself were creased up laughing for the next ten minutes.

    Nev.

Nice cat Nev, beautiful big eyes.  I bought my daughter Michelle a pure bred Himalayin cat, when she was 6 years old and up until that time, I never really had any experience with cats as we didn't have any, when I was a kid growing up.  She was a beautiful warm loving cat just like my Felix.  He is a great pet and he is fast asleep on my computer desk again. :jump:

Oooh my goodness, can there be anything cuter than Felix as a kitten - just melts one's heart looking at the photo!!  Beautiful and how lucky you are, Ricardo!!

Have any photos of Tag or James, Nev?  I'm always so sad that I didn't take more photos of treasured furry friends - sigh and drat.

Here are a few more recent shots, taken this past weekend at the Detroit river.  A Canadian coast guard ship Griffon put into port, she was travelling up and down the Detroit river, removing buoys and navigational aids and such.
