Restricing access to sharled folders on a Terminal Server

Hi!
I have been asked by one of our users to create a shared folder which only
certain people can access.
I have created the folder on one of our TS's and edited the share
permissions so that none of the rules are inheritted, then denied access to
everyone except Administrators. I have then gone in and added the specific
users that need access, giving them full access, I have included my self on
this.

I have then browsed to the folder location from my local desktop and it
denies me access saying I don't have permission.
I was hoping that I would get a login box instead asking for my credentials.

Can anyone help me?

 

Hi!

I think you need to remove Everyone (since we deny access anyway) group from
the permissions and just add the groups/users that need to have access.
However - I would suggest to post the question on microsoft.public.windows
alias to get appropiate solution to the issue.

"Deny" rules override any "Access" rules, so you've effectively
locked EveryOne out. "Deny" rules should be used only in very
soecial circumstances, if ever.
