Resize windows 2003 server OS system partition

Aanyone have any suggestion on what will be the good and relaible software
allow me to resize the partition that has Windows 2003 OS installed? I need
to increase the size for OS/system portion. Thanks in advance!!!

That depends. What do you have? A DC? Exchange? SQL? Or are they all on the
same server?

The *best* way is to back it up completely selecting a System State and full
C: drive, reinstall it with the new size and same SP level and hotfixes,
then restore.

However if Exchange is on it, or it is a DC with Exchange, this complicates
things. Normally a System State backup is not recommended using the same
backup as an Exchange info store backup.

Other methods that are **_NOT SUPPORTED_** is ghosting it, then ghosting it
back specifying a new size, or Partition Magic's Server magic. But like I
said, these are not supported and if anamolies arise afterwards that cause
production issues, connectivity, replication problems services not starting,
etc, they will either be difficult or impossible to fix wtihout a reinstall,
especially if a DC.

It's a SQL2005 server. I saw third party software called partition manager,
any idea if they work for server OS partition? Thanks.

As I previously mentioned, you would want to look into Server Magic, which
is actually Partition Magic's version for servers.
