We have only one server in our office which is our DC, DNS server, file and
print server (no exchange). How major are the ramnifications if we needed to
    rename it?

  2. Hello Don,

You should only rename a DC if there is a really good reason for it. So what
is the need to rename the Domain controller machine name?

Before renaming it you should install an additional DC, to keep the domain
up and running with DNS/GC installed and also move all the 5 FSMO roles to
the second DC. This is btw always a recommendation, do not work with one
    DC/DNS/GC allone.

    Best regards

I agree with Meinolf. Unless the server is named MYBOSSISAPOOPYPANTS I'd
leave it be. Otherwise, set up another DC/DNS/GC, transfer the roles, demote
the old server, rename it, and reverse the process.
