Well we won't even go there, other than to say So many gave So Much, and if they saw the respect the youth of today had for what they did would they have bothered?

    Nice old photo though :)

I agree with Match and unfortunatley its always been a problem with society as its youths (lets remember I am only 26 and not 56 like some think :D)
have got worse in terms of manners and respect.
I am not old but some of the things I see 15/16 years old do I would have never dreampt of doing.
I still think that most of the issues stem from their parents to a degree as I know not all can be held accountable, but the justice system or lack of it is more to blame.

That's a poignant photo of you son, Bob - and thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Our local schools have a special class this time of year to help children understand and respect the sacrifices made then - and now - for all of us to be free and we nearly always attend the local Parade, etc.

But that said, the last few years it's harder and harder to buy poppies to wear ... suspect our Vets are dying out and there are few willing to take their place.

There are so, so many incredible memorial statues created - and here's only two - 'Lest we Forget'.

Sometimes I want to silently weep when I think of all the lives lost - and knowing how easy it is for me to 'forget' as I live this terrific life I have - free!

Ohhhhh, the poor animals and the poor men!

When I was a child, one of our neighbours was an elderly man who fought in WWI - mustard gas, frozen toes and feet rotting from being in the mud constantly. I literally cannot imagine myself in such a situation - and how grateful I would be if no one ever again had to 'go to war'.
