My mouse is not dropping or releasing stuff I am trying to paste else where.   Can you tell me if its a setting or has the mouse died. It does eventually drop the pasting, but takes two or three goes.

Hi Judy and welcome to the forums.  How is everything down under????  Do you have a laser mouse??? I am not sure why it is not working, but, mice are so cheap these days I would throw that one out and buy a new one. Just curious, have you made any changes to your computer recently????

    Cheers: Rich :bnghd:

I have to agree with Ricardo, Mice are so cheap I have 4 or 5 lying around, I've taken a couple apart but they never seem to work right afterwards (Optical Mice), so unless you have a really flash expensive gaming mouse I would just replace it.

    Hi Judy and welcome.
Further to Richardo's and Match's post.
We need to know exactly what sort of a mouse it is.
Try it on another computer to determine whether it's the mouse or a setting.
If it's a cordless you may need to change the battery.

Thanks for the welcome - it's the mouse on my laptop - will try on another computer.   I normally do have some spares, but this one is fairly new.   From memory - its a Logitech and wireless (well, USB)

Not sure what programs you mean, that I might have downloaded?

I am also having trouble on two different computers with the space bar not registering which means I have to go and space everything out manually.  I've been typing for 60 years, so it can't be me surely  lol

DSTM - I only moved to Bendigo from the Blue Mountains two years ago!

Hi again Judy, Ricardo here, if it is in fact a wireless mouse, you may have to re-set it, they are famous for losing their mind now and then. :dnc:

Why move to Bendigo?  The Blue Mountains are beautiful. :smile2:
    Happy New Year, Judy.
I use a cordless Logitek mouse and when it gets slow I rub the bottom of the mouse on the palm of my left hand as fast as I can in circles.
It seems to fix any mouse probs I have.

Just went into loungeroom - its a Dick Smith Wireless Optical Mouse - its small enough to be a travelmouse.I may not get back tonight:)

Had no family left in  B Mountains,so came to Bendigo where two daughters live.  Great town (considering I am a city girl).   I dont miss the b/mountains traffic!

Try what I said with the mouse and see if any better.
    Try another battery, also.
As Rich and Match have said Mice are cheap. I have many.
I live near Penrith and can see the Blue Mountains out of my window.
We often drive up there as it's cooler and they have some nice Bakeries and coffee shops
    This one we visit often.

Hi DSTM - I probably will buy another mouse, as I always like to have keyboards and mice at hand. The battery is still good on this one, but I'm taking it back to Dick Smith's tomorrow to see what happens, it should be under warranty.

Getting back to the Blue Mountains - don't get me wrong, I loved living there, felt very privileged. I know the coffee shop you mean, I have had many coffees there, and likewise other coffee shops up and down the mountain.   I had a lovely townhouse, perfectly positioned - in Springwood, which is just half way up or down.   I left a lot of friends behind to come here to Bendigo.   I wasn't sorry about missing the roadworks up towards Katoomba tho!

Thanks for the advice.   I have another query on this thread now!!!

Hi Judy. Before you take it back try the sender in another USB Port while the computer is running.
Wait for about a minute and it should start working again.
See if it makes a difference.

I wanted to try doing that, DSTM, but because its a travel (sized) mouse, the usb is much smaller than the usual one, and whilst I had a slot in the notebook which accepted it, my bigger desktop does not have that small usb slot.  (if that makes sense)

I use all Logitek mice and don't have any issues.
Woolworths here sell logitek mice. Under $20
Your Woolworths in Bendigo may sell them also, Judy.

I'll have a look next time I go to Wooolies, DSTM ( I was there this morning!) , to get another one as a backup.    I ended up taking the mouse back to Dick Smith.  The girl was going to get a guy to check it out, but in the end she gave me another brand new one, no questions asked.  The other one was was just 3 and a bit months old.

I usually buy Logitech, most of my stuff is that brand, but I bought a keyboard from them last year (well, through Dick Smiths, they do well out of me) - It was July 2012, but I only started using it about a month ago, and from the first day the space bar kept sticking.    Logitech did believe me when I told them the problem and I think they are going to replace it.   I'm wondering if the stuff they make these days is still of as good quality as in the past?  If they do replace the keyboard, I'm still going to have to buy another one as backup.

Sooooooooooooo ............... thanks for your help and suggestions DSTM :)

I'm good at getting lemons, be it phone, keyboard, mouse - anything!!!

Lift the spacebar black plastic cover off with your fingernails  and press down on the contact and see if the contact stays down or springs backup as it should.
