DirtyPolo is right in most cases about what he mention in post # 15 but this time it wasn't the case with this . If your smart just provide a bogus email account one that you don't use often or care about .

If your not that smart or just too Idol to go through the hassle of setting up a bogus email account simply open your Email application select the email then click Actions, Junk Email and select Add sender's Domain to Blocked Domain list.

and never again will they bother you, unless you have to re-install and you haven't backed up your Email account properly ;)

I don't mind giving an email address or even registering downloading/installing a free program and if I like it, will send them a thank you note saying so.

But Zone Alarm's 'freebie' reminds me of the Ads we often see on tv ... 'buy something and don't pay for a year' type of thing. One would have thought a reputable firm wouldn't use these type of tactics - geesh!

Yes, I agree, snooker ... an honest way of doing it would be to say they are taking one's credit card number because one year from the starting date of the 'free' software, the credit card will be charged with $XX for continued use of program.

As long as you don't mix up your approaches and give them your credit card details and a bogus email for the annual reminders! :confused:I took them up on their offer a few months back and installed the ZA software on a couple of my own laptop computers. I didnt have to give details other than email address at the time. I am a little alarmed (sic) by your approach Snooker, did you see Watchdog last night? You need to be very careful that you aren't making the life of the hacker even easier.
