Download and save the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool:

    Restart to Safe Mode -

    Now run windows-kb890830-v2.5.exe
    Choose the Quick Scan option.
Restart to normal Windows mode after the tool is done scanning.

Using Internet Explorer, have the system scanned here:

IF the system can not be scanned at the OneCare site, download the
*free* version of Malwarebytes Anti-malware [MBAM]:

Click the "Download free version" button and *save* the download.
Once the download completes, boot to *Safe Mode with Networking*.

Install MBAM and allow it to update it's definitions during the
    installation.
When MBAM finishes it's installation, open it and use the Quick scan option.
When the scan is done, click the Show results button.
Ensure everything detected is checked and then click the Remove selected
    button.

To ensure the system has been cleaned up, visit one of these reputable
    anti-malware forums:

  4. MS PCSafety provides no-charge support for home users (only) to deal with
malware infections such as viruses, spyware (including unwanted software),
    and adware.

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.
