Isnt rdp in high encryption mode secure enough? what benefit is there to
    add SSL with cert?
Curious if I am missing something

    Many regards

RDP does that too, at least with reasonably modern servers/clients, no?

  3. I would expect that the main advantage is that it uses HTTPS, standard port
    443.
This port is open from most public places (hotels, conferences, airports).
In some places VPN traffic is blocked.

Many admins like to connect to their servers while they are away from work.

I have always used RDP with a different port set at high security. I would
expect that to be enough. I guess I dont see how adding an ssl cert can
improve that. But if the client wants it, its a free cert with selfssl
    anyway.

    Thanks

Yeah, I realize that -- My point is that there isn't much
identify/verification added by running RDP over a SSL tunnel.
