Hi, I refomatted my computer and it seems to get halfway through and then turns off, and then when started says that the administrator is disabled and I need to talk to my system administrator. Because of this, I cannot start my computer. Help ?

    Thanks.

You reformatted your drive or the format failed? I am not we can fully understand where you are unless you are a bit more specific.

Hi Did you format the whole drive or just a partition? What you need to do is remove the hard drive and put it in a Docking station or external enclosure and format from there. Then put the Hard drive back in the computer, set the boot order in the bios and clean install.

I've no idea what that means, sorry.
I don't know what a partition is, and I don't know how to do anything of what you explained. It just says "your account has been disabled, please see system administrator."

I have a sony Vaio laptop and it said it wouldnt get rid of the OS if I reformatted so I did that.

It also says the administrator is "logged on" Does that mean it is still reformatting?

What you are describing is not a total format. Please tell us what steps you took? Did you use the advanced boot option screen (F8).

I've also restarted it from this page and it gets up to the "welcome" screen for windows, then pops up saying that windows was not installed properly and just restarts continuing in the same process.

OK clearly something went wrong with whatever you were pressing. Try this: Restart the machine and keep tapping on F8 until you get to a black screen called "Advnaced Boot Options) There are a number of things you can try from there. The first would be to boot to the "last known good configuration" (the wording is from memory but you will see it.) If that doesn't work there are some repair options available. None of this is going to wrk if you have somehow managed to delete the OS and you may need to follow DSTM's recommendation.

Tried that, but it still booted up to the not correctly installed version of windows.

What are the other repair options?

    Read the following : http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=C1017504&sliceId=1&mdl=VPCF126FMB

It seems to me that everything that Sony offers is available in Windows 7. Unfortunately you chose to use Sony's proprietary software and something went terribly wrong. Read the PDF that I just gave you but try the built in Windows solutions that were in my last post. Hopefully Windows 7 is still lurking there someplace.

So now what should I choose from the options that come up when I tap F8?

Sorry but I am no the way out. Select the "Repair My Computer" option and there are a number of choices including system restore. I would try that first and choose a date (if possible) prior to when you started to format.

By the way what was wrong before that made you feel you needed to format in the first place?

Here are format instructions for Sony Vaio.

    QUOTE

Backup your important data to flash/disk/external drive (if possibe), then...

At start up, when the VAIO logo appears on the computer's screen, tap the F10 key and the VAIO Recovery Wizard appears. Follow the on-screen prompts.

    Or

When the VAIO screen is displayed, press the F8 key.
At the Advanced Boot Options screen, ensure Repair Your Computer is selected and press the ENTER key.
In the System Recovery Options window, under Select a keyboard layout, click the Next button.
Under To access recovery options , next to User name, click the down arrow, and click to select an account with Administrator rights.
Next to Password, type the appropriate password for this account.
    Click the OK button.
Under Choose a recovery tool, click to select the desired option:

    1.Startup Repair
    2.System Restore
    3.Windows Complete PC Restore
    4.Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
    5.Command Prompt
    6.VAIO Recovery Center

Or use a Windows installation disk. You should download all relevant drivers for your make/model/OS beforehand...

On start up keep tapping either F1, F2, F10,(Be Aware that some manufacturers use F10 for system recovery!) Esc, or Del, to enter the BIOS set-up. Look for "Drive configuration", "Boot order" or similar and make the CD/DVD drive the first boot device and the hard drive second. Save settings and exit.

Insert the CD/DVD into your CD/DVD drive, and then restart your computer.
When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD" message, press a key to start the computer from the CD/DVD.

Follow the instructions on the screen to select and format (NTFS) a partition where you want to install Windows.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Windows Setup.
    UNQUOTE

NOTE. My previous instructions was for a Desktop Computer when you stuff up the format, not a laptop with a hidden recovery partition.

I am still on my way out but from what I see DSTM gave you detailed information in post at 2 minutes past the hour and your reply came 2 minutes later. To me that means that you are simply ignoring everything that is being said and waiting for the Magic Bullet to appear. Things just don't work that way.

Sorry I missed your last post and did not realize that you were not near the computer. You should not need a new copy of Windows. But we are getting way ahead of ourselves. Make sure you print out all the instructions that you received so far.

Ah, I wish you had said you were logging into the forum from a phone in the first place.

I suggest that if possible you log in from another computer, a friend perhaps or even a computer in a library, where you can print off the instructions so they are easy to follow.

    Nev.
