I am trying to run the app for tor Browser which uses Firefox to connect to the web. Working with the Tor help desk I was finally able to get the correct bridges, etc., to run the app. I used it for a day browsing and surfing with no problems. I like the browser and despite what some folks say about it being slow I found it very fast and easy to use once the kinks were worked out. The problem I have though is that when I go to pull up the app the next day I get the following error: "Firefox is already running. If you want to use another tab, close Firefox or restart your computer".
So this is what I have done: I checked win task mgr apps, processes and services. I found no Firefox or Tor running. Next I restarted my computer, got same error. I restarted it twice more and got the same thing. I did a hard boot by unplugging my battery, got the same error. I uninstalled both Firefox and Tor and reinstalled the latest version of both. Got the same error. I shut down my Avast Virus app and win firewall for internet and apps. Got the same error.
I have run out of things I can think of to do at this point. Tor help desk does not know either. Since Tor uses Firefox to get on the net I think something must be hung up. I even reassigned my default browser to Chrome hoping that would make Tor use it and not Firefox. Any ideas? Thanks Dave.

Hi Cindy. FYI, I talked to the Tor tech and he advised me that yes Tor will work without Firefox being installed, it uses the file Firefox.exe. The only problem with that is Tor uses security data that comes with Firefox the full version. If I un-installed Firefox I would be missing a lot of the security that comes with it. So I installed Firefox for Tor to use but I didn't put the shortcut on my desktop or task bar as I don't intend to use it as a browser. So far Tor runs great and I have not had that error about Firefox running twice. Just thought you would like to know. Take care, Dave

That is good to know about the security aspect of it. Thanks, Dave!
