Problem with DFS and memory allocation

Discussion in 'Windows Home Server' started by Wojciech Kowasz, Apr 16, 2009.

  1. Hello,

I have a domain Windows Server 2008-mode DFS namespace configured on two
Windows Server 2008 Standard systems. The problem is that very often users
report the namespace is unavailable and the error message appears: "Not
enough server storage is available to process this command" when they try to
access the namespace folder. Indeed in the server's event log there are a
lot of error entries for Event ID 2019 from "srv", which states: "The server
was unable to allocate from the system nonpaged pool because the pool was
empty." I researched the problem and found very promising KB article
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938666) but the hotfix is for Windows
    Server 2003 only.

The second server runs just fine with no errors and when the problem arises
you can switch the active link to the second server and the namespace is
again available. I would really appreciate any help, in particular I'm
wondering if there is a similar hotfix for Windows Server 2008?

    Thanks,

    Best regards
    Wojciech Kowasz
