Power conf

Discussion in 'Windows Home Server' started by William Stokes, May 6, 2009.

  1. Hello,

We had a black out last night. All our Win2003R2 servers were shut down
after the UPS ran out of power. After power was restored all servers were
automatically booted back up and running exept one. All servers are running
default Windows power scheme "always on".

How to find out why this one server did not boot back up after power
    restore?

    Thanks!

    -Will

I would simulate a power outage (by pulling the plug to the UPS), then sit
in front of the console and watch what happens. You should also check the
    power options in the BIOS.

It could be anything that has caused it not to reboot.

Is the Server doing anything at all - any lights - fans? anything?

If it is not doing anything then it could have fried the MOBO or the PSU as they are the most common components susceptable to power spikes/loss

  4. The server is now running normally after manual boot this morning. I'll have
    to check BIOS settings...

    Thanks
