We're back to why you get timeouts and long response times when you ping the main router when the 2nd router is in the line.
It's not because of conflicting IP addresses. The IP addresses in the game room are 10.251.x.x because they're connected to the 2nd router. The devices connected to the main router are getting addresses of 192.168.1.x.

Ok, so how can I fix the double NAT issue while maintaining WAN and LAN capabilities??

Essentially, there's no way to have happen what I need to happen. Which I think y'all already knew by now. Lol.
If I have wifi active on both routers, it's going to do double NAT. If I don't want double NAT, I have to make one of the routers a switch/bridge which defeats the whole purpose.
    So, I'm screwed?

You could make the 2nd router a switch but you’ll lose the wireless.

    Yeah....
So how the heck did I have it configured before I ever started this thread then? Because I had wifi and lan on each, and open NAT. did I make the IP addresses the same on each router which would cause conflicts?

    Could be.

The two NATs are due to having the 192.168.x.x AND the 10.251.x.x addresses. Those are the two translations.

I think there’s a way to use the second router to extend the 192.168.xx addresses That may work, but I’ve never done it. Your router may not support it.

An alternative is to add an Access Point to give wireless in the game room. Something like https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC12...s=Wireless+access+point&qid=1612752755&sr=8-3

Wait, so why am I trying to configure an old router when I could get this and have wifi coverage and a wired connection to the Xbox? What's the catch?

So I've been using the wrong hardware for years and didn't even know it? Geez I'm an idiot!
    Edit:
    Questions--
-does this create a unique SSID?
-my main router is Linksys, will it work with Netgear?
-when reading about setting my router up as an access point, it says the wifi turns off. Why is that not the case with this Netgear access point?

So 3 hours later and I've cascaded my router using LAN to LAN and I have:
    Wifi everywhere
    Ethernet connection on xbox
    Same SSID throughout the home

I think this has done it without the need for an access point but, is there something I'm missing where I need an access point?

Good job! So the 2nd router is providing 192.168.1.x addresses?

Yes I think so. I manually made it the same as the first router except the last number I changed from 1 to 2. Nothing is plugged into the Ethernet port on 2nd router.

Are there any reasons I'd get the access point you recommended if I've done this to the 2nd router?

I think you're good. No need for the Access Point. The 2nd router is giving you a new wireless access point in the game room. Correct?

It's not a new one, the lan to lan article by Linksys said to make the ssid the same as the first routers ssid. So essentially I think it automatically changes my phone (for example) to whichever router is closest/ideal based on my location in the house.
I know you said to make it a different ssid before but I think thats what caused a second NAT. This way it just is extension of the initial router...?

If the XBox was connected directly to the Ethernet, the wireless had nothing to do with the NAT issue. The NAT issue came about because the main router changed the IP address from whatever external IP address you have to the 192.1668.1.x address. That was the first NAT. Then the second router changed it from 192.168.1.x to 10.251.1.x. That was the second NAT.

Sounds like a plan. Thanks for the offer to help. That's very kind. Maybe you can refer others to the site.
