Hi Rich. You didn't read my last post.It was a big block chevy .Everything had to be modified.I sat the motor 5" back which meant making a new firewall. The engine had special stabilizer bars to the chassis to stop it smashing engine mountings on take off. Once on take off it actually twisted the body and I had to do extensive rebuilding to fix and reinforce. Those were the days.

Well I once owned a V6 2.8 Capri,(He says turning on his heels and stomping off out the door turning a nice shade of green)

But then I suppose you have to be careful in the UK, I Think the Romans were the last people to build a straight road :)

That was one of the problems with the Capri, great in a straight line, pretty poor on a bend, and the Cortina MKIII was even worse. I know I owned enough of 'em.

My cars have always been near end of life bangers that with a spanner and mig welder I have managed to get a few more years out of them.

Now that car gyrocopter is pretty neat, the only problem being there isn't enough road space on our roads to get the thing to take off, too many other cars in the way.
I have seen these gyro type or form of microlite aircraft at shows, but unlike a full helicopter, they do need some length of runway to get up speed enough for the lift.

The Japanese robots are both brilliant and a little scary, one of them armed and controlled by the wrong guys would be hard to stop, but also there is the background fear of technology and the eventually inteligent computer taking over the world. Many science fiction stories and movies have explored that. Terminator and the Matrix being two of the more well known.

However, all that is taking this thread a bit too far off topic.
Apart from the lottery and being able to fly a chopper, reality kicks in as there is little chance of them, so I will settle for a touch screen monitor, or possibly the full touch screen computer with Windows 8, though not too keen on spending on another computer for the latter.

I read by the year 2030 there will be 2 billion less jobs due to this type of technology.
That's going to mean a lot living below the poverty line.
Back on Topic now, Please.

Ok Doughie back on topic.  This is also on my wish list and as a point of interest I think PseFrank may enjoy this one.  A 1950 Vincent Black Shadow. The fastest production English motorcycle in history, at that time. I love English motorcycles and I currently own a 1966 Triumph Bonneville, fully restored and she rides like a dream.

BSA Bantam which I still have and is crated for restoration.
That's if I don't get buried in the crate first. :jump:

OMG Doughie, great bikes all of them.  I belong to an English motorcycle restoration club and our current members have all those bikes. My one mate has a Thruxton Velocette, beautiful bike.  I almost bought a Matchless this past summer and I still may do, cuz he still has it.  I think we have a lot in common. :jump:

PS: I restored the Bonny myself, it was a heap, when I bought it and I took it all apart.  It was missing all sorts of parts and I went to various swap meets to find what I needed.  It took me 10 months to restore it and the only thing I didn't do, was the paint job. I did all the mechanical work myself.  It was a labour of love.

Here is a pic. PS: the only difficulty, in all that work was the wiring. Someone hacked into it over the years and it was a bloody nightmare.  I bought a generic wiring loom and re-wired it from the headlamp to the tail lamp.  Lucas is a pain in the arse and some of the Brits, over here, call it the prince of darkness. I bought a Boyer Bransden electronic ignition package and threw out the 12 volt coils and installed 2 6 volt coils and wired them in series.  Worked like a charm.

You're right Ricardo, just like yourself and Dougie the Vincent is a bike I would love to own. Your Bonnie, or one like it is another that I would like. I've had a few bikes in my time. I brought my first bike at the age of twelve (Thats not a typo)...for £5. It was a Triumph 500 Speed Twin. The guy who had it couldn't get it to run at all. It was the first bike I ever worked on, and I stripped it completely ( Engine and all) and rebuilt it and it started straight away... I used it for about a year up and down a fen track near my home.

One of the most recent bikes I owned was a GSXR 750cc...(Picture below). I done about 40,000 miles on that bike, with around 10 to 15,000 of those on the track...I loved that bike...

Please Santa can I somehow have it back?

WOW, nice shot Frank, wish I was there.  Haven't seen any decent motor bike races in years.  There is a race track, over here, called Mossport and it is around an hours drive north and east of Toronto.  They race cars, motor bikes and go carts there and the track is very treacherous.  Many people have been killed there over the years both in car racing and motor bike racing.  I would love to take a bike there and give it a go and I am sure you would as well. :jump:

Sorry, I guess I tend to get a little long winded at times and we are getting off topic again, but,I love talking motorcycles.  Maybe we should start a thread about motor bikes and the like. :jump:

Yes indeed Doughie, I know I really enjoyed it, but, then again we are talking motorcycles and I don't know too many men or women for that matter who don't like talking about them. :jump:
