Yep, I agree with Mara, not only good and well carried out.
It is the imagination that has gone into its creation that matters, as well as how well it is carried out, and you did well on both counts Bob.

    You keep them coming Bob..

In post #103 the frame is nice and crisp/clear, good choice of gradient for the background, plus your selection work is top notch.

Here's a few tips when working with OOB's...
    • Choose your subject carefully. Often the best oob's are when the subject can be seen as a whole. Check out Nevs Tram oob in post 62...and from the masters oob's in posts 27, 32, 44, and 68. They all have one thing in common...you can see all of the main subject.
    • The biggest part of your subject should always be inside of the frame, with the remainder being seen as a whole outside of the frame. You don't need very much of your subject outside of the frame to create a good 3D effect. This also makes the selection or cutting out process much easier.
    • Many people think that the best subjects for oob's are action shots. Although this shouldn't be thought of as a hard and fast rule.
    • There is never a race to post your work on a forum...If you're not completely happy with what you've done, then don't post it! By the same token, If you like what you've done, then show it to the world...Who cares what others think anyway?
    • Last of all, have fun with whatever it is you're doing. You yourself are the only one that you really have to please.
I hope these few tips & hints help you out a little.. :)

If all these tips in this thread are written down and saved it will make doing these fun, Bob12a.
PseFrank taught me all I know and I am still learning.
Every one you do you will get better and quicker at it.
I think you are having issues moving Layers to the fore.
If you are not sure of a step by all means post and someone will explain in detail.
I would find some hi resolution free images on the net.
Not all images are suitable for OOB's

How kind you are, Doug, and I'm sure our Bob will appreciate your offer.

By the way, while I don't have many 'action' photos, do have scads of objects/images (mostly flowers, animals, trees, etc etc) with transparent backgrounds if any one needs something similar.

    Hi Bob12a
Could you post a screen shot of the layers Palette, please.
Just wondering how you managed to get the text pixilated.
Did you drag the text from another file.

This is one for Frank to explain why the text is pixilated.
    I honestly don't know why.
Maybe we can both learn something.

    Further question.
At what point did you add a Gradient to the text.?

    @ Bob12a

So that your post #112 above makes some sort of sense to our other members Bob, here's an image plus a few details of the subject that you have read (On another forum).

The image below depicts the layers palette in photoshop. In this particular image there are 4 layers.

Starting at the bottom of the layers palette:

The Background layer...You'd get this by clicking File > New.

A duplicate of the background layer that has been filled with Green...CTRL + J will duplicate a layer.

The next layer was added by clicking Add a new layer (Small square icon at the base of the layers palette). Then a shape was added to the blank new layer and filled with colour.

And last of all a text layer was added. It should be noted that until the text has been Rastorized it would show with a white background, and then after with a transparent background.

My original point with this image was to demonstrate how the layers stack on top of each other in photoshop, and when viewed from the top we would only be able to see the top layer...except when there are transparent areas in all or any of the layers.

    Hi Bob12a.
A number of times we have asked you not to quote large posts that are relevant to the topic being discussed.
This type of quoting only bogs down the thread.
I am going to delete a couple of your quotes and hope you understand.
