Periodic Device Disconnect Sound

Yeah I love Canon Pixma this is my second one (because the first one lasted so long).

 

ok so canon printers are good personally I'm happy with my Epson,

but do we get the speaker noise with all other usb devices disconnected?

Could even be a faulty USB Jack.
I would change the keyboard and mouse to different ports as a test.

 

The headset is usb. So is my mouse, gamepad, keyboard, guitar hookup and I think that's it for usb devices. I unplugged the headset but left the rest plugged in and didn't get the sound. Only when the headset is plugged in will I get the sound (and I tried plugging it into different spots) and only when my speakers are set to default. I know the sound is coming through the speakers and not the headset for two reasons 1. I can hear that it is coming from the speakers and I can hear it when my headset is turned off.

 

Has to be a usb conflict then between the headset and something else. I doubt it is mouse and keyboard, so it has to be gamepad or guitar hookup and I would bet the last one.

 

I asked JoeC to disconnect everything except the Keyboard and Mouse and he has chosen not to try this elimination. Something hooked up is causing this issue I am pretty sure.

 

Dougie maybe you inherited my "invisible" state I had here a few weeks ago.

 

OK guys having read through this thread completely and twice to make sure, I am now pretty convinced it is the headset itself. This may be a conflict between it and some other USB device as you suggest Rich, it may also just be some oddity in the headset. However, we don't as yet know any full details about this headset, so can you give us the name of make and full model number, also is it just headphones or is it complete with a microphone?

I am wondering if it is a power save mode within the headset when not set as default is all. In fact do have a good look around in the properties windows for that headset, if you find a power saving mode, turn it off.

K, so I'll give the Headset, mouse, and keyboard a go first and if I still get the sound I'll unplug the mouse and keyboard and go with the headset only.

 

I've unplugged everything except the headset, mouse and keyboard. Still got the sound.
I've unplugged everything except just the headset. Still got the sound.
I plugged my mouse back in to set the headset as default and unplugged the mouse again. No sound (not through the headset nor speakers).
I plugged my mouse back in and set my speakers as default then unplugged the mouse again. I then relocated the headset to a different USB port. I got the sound.
With the speakers set as default, I plugged everything back in except the headset. No sound.

 

That tells you once again the headset is the problem.

 

I asked earlier, can you please tell us the make and model of the headset. Then we can go looking for information about them.

Wow nice headset, I am surprised.

 

Indeed should be good, however they are wireless, that in itself can come with various problems, the headset itself must have a battery of some sort, if rechargeable it may be not holding charge any more and requires replacement.
The other thing and is more likely is other wireless devices, which may not be yours and could even be the next door neighbours, could be interfering with the headsets wireless signal.
Both those things could be the reasons for the connect/disconnect sound.

By any chance do you hace a cell phone anywhere near the pc when this is happening? Pc's and cell phones do not get on well together.

 

I suggest grabbing a wired headset and trying that.
That will eliminate if any outside interference is causing this issue.
