I've had my pc since October and never had this problem.

I installed a game and when I ran it it dropped the signal (this happens from time to time, running in windowed mode usually fixes), this time it also crashed, so I restarted my computer, since then my computer won't display on VGA as its main output, (it works for my hdmi cable, with VGA left in as a kind of second screen it works like that, this is just inconvenient as using hdmi the output resolutions dont fit my screen properly), so backtracking problems I ran windows in safety mode (which worked through VGA) and uninstalled the game. This didn't correct my problem.

I then plugged in my HDMI cable and noticed another program couldn't run properly because of a corrupted .net file, so I went and .Net 4.0 again and repaired it. This didn't work.

I've been into system in the control panel and done the maintainence and repair options available and it still doesn't work.

I have to assume its not my moniter or cable because it displayed through the HDMI cable and everything worked as normal with the pc in Safety mode, I'm not as techy as people think and I just cant see what else could be causing it.

    Can anyone help?

First welcome to Computer Help Forums! I understand how frustrated you are because I see that you have posted this issue is several forums. I hope you will do everyone the courtesy of eventually just keeping one thread going.

First we need an honest answer to one question; Where did you get the unnamed game. If you downloaded it from a P2P site that may be the cause of your problem. Not being up front on that issue will eventually lead you to a lot of ineffective cures. Keep in mind that we are not the PC Police and we will not refuse to help you if it was from a torrent. The only thing we will not do is help you with the torrent itself.

However if you are sure that your graphics properties are correct and show the monitors in the proper order with the proper settings I suspect that this may be a malware issue. If you are not sure then we need to take a lok at those settings.

You may also want to take a look in your device manager and check if there are any warnings regarding your graphics card and that your drivers are up to date.

Since you apparently "solved" your problem elsewhere without the courtesy of letting us know, I am closing this thread. By the way you seem to have eliminated the symptom but probably not the disease.
