[Solved] Outlook 2010 error msg

Whichever email address starts receiving emails first is the one set to default.

 

The emails are mostly family history orientated which I didnt save to the respective famiy files lol - one day I'll get through them all.

Uhmmm hard question - I havent had any emails on the Bendigo address site for a little while, so hotmail naturally comes through. But I had already selected hotmail as the default. Sorry I am not much help. I set the default in account settings earlier this morning, previously it had been the Bendigo address as default.

The error message is puzzling though : "Connected to Windows Live Hotmail" . As I said before I dont want to get rid of windows live mail because of the old emails, but I can't find out how to stop the above message.

 

Lets try this for that message ...


*Open Windows Live Mail and go "disable the sign in window,"

*Windows Live Mail drop-down menu icon on the top left above "Email Message" icon.

Select "'options" then click on "'mail"from the selection there.

*In the mail "options"' property pages, select the "connection" tab and click "stop signing in from the connecting to windows live services" section.

*Click "stop signing in" to any warning messages.

*Click "ok" to exit the "options" property pages

See what happens from there.

 

I got as far as "stop signing in from the connecting to windows live services" section, but the "stop signing in" is greyed out

 

When you did have Bendigo email as your default did it still say still "Connected to Windows Live Hotmail" in the bottom right?

 

Yes, doesnt matter whether I make the Bendigo site or the hotmail site the default is still there.

I guess if they both work in Outlook 2010 with the message, I shouldnt worry about it?

 

I wouldn't worry about it. A mild annoyance, but at least it works.

 

The same as I have the Bendigo address and the hotmail address twice in Outward Send/Receive Progress I guess.

 

Try this to stop duplicate emails from being received. Click Tools/Account Settings/Double click on the email accounts (one by one)/Click more settings/click advanced/and under Delivery make sure Leave a copy of messages on the server is unchecked.

 

I did as you said. I still have 4, 2 of each address, and sometimes 8 show up O I checked what I had done, and the box had definitely been unchecked. Even rebooted.

 

That's not normal at all. Do you ever do a delete of emails?

 

Yes, I do - I am trying to keep the emails down more than I did on Windows Live Mail

 

Repair didn't work and other tries and removing isn't an option, so why not remove the one you seldom use from outlook and log into it separate from outlook and see if that stops the multiple emails.

 

Its not that I seldom use it, I get mail from the Managers of the Village I live in (they are away at present)

But if I took it out of Outlook, I'd have to open Windows Live Mail to get their mail wouldnt I?

 

I'm confused to be honest. What 2 email providers are you running through Outlook?

 

Bendigo account is POP/smtp (default) incoming is through a Bendigo site (bendigo domain.com.au outgoing through telstrabusines.com
Hotmail Mapi http://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/sync.aspx

I have mentioned this before, but under account settings - Data files I have
1. - ******@bendigo etc

2 - ****** (should say "@hotmail" but says Not available

3. - Outlook Data File - c:|Users\Judy\Documents\Outlook Files\Outlook Data.pst

(Just in case it might help)

 

I believe your problem is having your pst file there. Remove that and you should be good to go. Remove the Outlook Data File entry and your emails should not duplicate any more.

 

Here's how I would do that. Copy the pst file to an empty folder. Then delete it because you can always put it back later if something goes wrong.

 

Well it looked good - it then became (under account settings) - email
1. - ******@bendigo etc POP/SMTP (send from this account default)

2 - ****** @hotmail.com (mapi)

anyway, forget that. I made hotmail the default
now shows ******@hotmail.com (mapi)
****bendigo etc (POP/SMTO)
but under data Files next to it - it reads
****@bendigo etc (and has that pst file in it) and now
***@hotmail says "not available"

I still have in the Outlook Send/Receive progress file showing
two Bendigo addresses (one for sending and one for receiving) and two hotmail addressess likewise
don't know why it has to have one for each procedure

I just noticed in the Outlook files that hotmail is showing without an address - just "hotmail" - thats the account that says "not available"
