"Optimize Data Throughput for Network Applications" for 2008

We're setting up a new server using Server 2008 64 bit to replace an existing
server running server 2003 32 bit. The primary function is as a
database/application server for a Progress database.

In earlier versions of Windows, we've always found it necessary to set the
"Optimize Data Throughput for Network Applications" option instead of leaving
the server optimized as a file server. If we didn't do this, backups using
the Progress utilities would be slow and would severely impact filesystem
performance. This simple change made a huge difference.

I'm seeing similar symptoms on Server 2008 and this setting seems to no
    longer exist.

The most obvious symptom is that when doing a backup (Progress backup) task
manager will eventually show that all memory has been consumed and backup
    performance will gradually deteriorate.

How can I get Server 2008 to behave more like 2003 with this setting?

    Thanks,

    Tom
