Opening "Jar" file?

    Yes Cindy, I tried winrar and it worked but that is only a trial, I am looking for some easy to use software I can install and use permanently just in case I should run into any out of the ordinary file type in the future.

    7-Zip is free, Mike. It's open source. :biggrin: I use it all the time.

    I was puzzled about what a JAR file is, but guessed it had something to do with Java and went to look it up, so I am assuming you know a JAR file is a Java ARchive file Mike, however if you have Java Runtime Environment installed, and the file is an executable, you should be able to run the file, if not executable you can at least view it.
    More here and also a link in there to download and install Java Runtime Environment as well. (JRE is free)

    I thought JAR is a zip file format and therefore 7-Zip should certainly open it and read it. I guess Nev was posting as I was writing this...
