Today we had had the unfortunate task of banning an active member from CHF. This is the first time any member was banned for a reason other than being a spammer.

The reason for the banning may not be visible to our members but was a result of several attempt to simply get the member to follow simple rules of forum decorum. This was followed but a string of private and public (since removed) taunts to "ban me." When the member started to reference all this in public posts some final action needed to be taken.

We are a help forum that includes an active social component so we can keep in touch with each other when we don't have any computer problems. We cannot have this kind of nonsense distracting us from our purpose.

This was extraordinary and, as I said, a first for us. Every member is encouraged to speak his or her mind but not in a way that becomes abusive.

That is always a tough and saddening call to have to make, especially with a long time member.

With this being your first time it proves that you have a basically good community here, congratulations on that. :)
