Old Hdd With Files Won't Install

    Hello,

    Ive assambled a new computer:

    Antec Nine Hundred Case ATX
    XFX 850w black modular edition
    Asus Rampage 4 Formula
    Intel i7-3960x v2 - 3.3Ghz
    Corsair hydro h80 watercooling
    2x 4gb kit G.Skill ripjawX ram
    120gb SSD OCZ agility
    2x1tb western digital HDD (from old pc)
    2 x Asus nVidia gtx 580 matrix edition

    Everything went fine, i'm using the computer as i should.
    Exept 1 thing
    one of my old HDD western digital 1tb is not working like it should
    in that hdd i got my personal files with i want to get back.
    Usualy i can just rightclick in the system configurations on the hard drive and chose install new volume.
    and usualy it works perfectly
    but now i don't know how to get this hdd to work without losing my files

    Since we don't know what else is on that drive it is a bit hard to say. The best thing to do would be to attach the drive using a USB adapter or "Caddy" and read it like an external drive. That way you can simply pull the data you want off the ol;d drive and when you are satisfied that you have everything you can the format it and seat it internally. I am guessing that there may other system files on that drive which may be causing the problem. That would be avoided using the method I suggested.

    I see that it is showing under Disk Management but I can't see anything about its properties in that screenshot and it does not seem to be active or recognized at the top. Is it being recognized in your bios?
