One of my clients, Southern California based, would like to have the
server stored outside his building for security and compliance reasons.
they are looking for an off-site facility where they can store the server
and connect via dedicated connection, like T1.
Any idea who provides such service?

    TIA.

  2. You don't need a "service" for that. All you need is a room in a building
    with a locked door.

Build a shed on the other side of the parking lot that has air conditioning
and dependable power. Keep it less than 300 feet away so you can run
Ethernet and you won't incur ongoing WAN costs for a least line. You could
also run a point -to-point wireless setup with your own equipment. With the
one-year cost of a T1 you could build the building new and probably buy the
equipment to connect to it,...then you own it an there is no ongoing cost.

I still wouldn't do it, or it would be my last choice anyway. Even if the
T1 was free, a WAN link is slow and inherently undependable (compared to
ethernet),..and then you are still paying someone needlessly to sit the
machine in their facility. I'd keep it close enough for Fast Ethernet
(maybe even Gigabit speed) to be used.

Anyway,...I don't what is available,..I never see any service like that
advertised in our area. Even if I did our two areas could be completely
different, so this probably should be a question you ask locally rather than
a newsgroup. We had an off site web server once (for completely different
reasons) and we kept it at our ISP's building.
