    Hello,
I am having an odd issue. Two of our computers have recently had a ridiculously slow internet connection. It happened suddenly, as in it was fine one day and slow the next, and it has gotten worse. The two slow computers can ping the router fine, but can't ping each other. Also, they can ping the other working computers, but can't be pinged from the working computers. Both slow PCs are running Windows Vista (one Home Basic, one Home Premium) and are both connected wirelessly. I at first thought it was probably the router, but our Vista Home Basic desktop (also connected wirelessly), My MacBook, our two iPod touches and our wireless printer all work fine. What could be causing this problem. Could it be the router? Is it our ISP (rogers) or is it the computers. It seems weird to me that both computers were working fine one day, but not the next.

Also, Speedtest.net says that one of the computers is getting 2.35mb/s download and 0.00mb/s upload, and that there is a ping time of 226ms. The other computer got 3.39mb/s of download, froze on the upload and got 66ms of ping. My MacBook got 12.47mb/s download, 0.5mb/s upload and 36ms ping.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks

It could be a number of things, I would firstly look at the router - does it act as a DHCP? where it gives your devices IP addresses or have you manually set static IPs?

If you have a few devices I would use static IPs (through the router home page)

Have you tried connecting the devices to the router directly with an Ethernet cable? (if possible)

Have you updated the NIC drivers recently. or checked for updates?

Turns out that it was the router dying. We rent our router from our ISP and they replaced it. Everything is working perfectly now.
