    Hi all,
I have to collect informations about encryption algorithms for a school
    project.
On Google, I found the software "Octopus Encryption" (based on the brand new
LVS algorithm), but I could find few docs about it.

    Can you please help me?

    Thanks,

    No.

It's a project. You're supposed to do it yourself.

In my day, if I cribbed the result would be a "THWACK" and me seeing stars
for a while. Thankfully, education has at least moved out of the Stone Age
    since then.

    Please do NOT multi-post.
Please learn to cross-post to pertinent, On Topic, news groups instead.

More importantly, do your OWN homework and don't try to enlist others in Usenet to do your
    homework for you.

I'm not really familiar with Usenet.
    My apologies.

    My homework is almost completed.
I am searching info about the LVS algorithm and the Octopus encryption, I'm
not asking to do my job! ;o)
    Anyway, thanks for your advices.

What brand new LVS algorithm is that?

I haven't been in school for a long time, but I suppose usenet is a
legitimate source of information(s) these days.

Sure. Many people now take advantage of others by asking them to do their
homework. They want *you* to do the research, so they don't have to. Then,
these are the people we will trust with our future.

Why do you think that I did not try by myself?
    You guys are really prejudiced!

I am asking your help because I cannot find information on the web.
Since this is a "brand new algorithm", I hoped to get some help from expert
guys like you are supposed to be... ;-)

Their site asks you to e-mail them for more information, have you done
    so?

Any encryption algorithm of any worth would be made public.

To the best of my knowledge LVS is neither a brand, new, nor an
    algorithm.

You may end up doing more research just to learn how to ask the right
    questions.

I prefer encryption based on math rather than trust.

    From their web page (

If you want to learn more about the Octoups Encryption, just send us
    an email:
    labs@includetech.com

Source codes can be required a the following email address:
    labs@includetech.com

So you could ask them about their *claimed* new encryption (which might
be nothing more than an existing scheme with slight modification which
doesn't improve the encryption's protection level at all but just does
it slightly different, like simply adding more bits to the key length).
Apparently they are also willing to divulge their source code so you
could go see what they are doing. They also have a forum on it at:

    Hi SiO2,

Yes you came to the right place, security section for MSFT Public NG is a
good place for your inquiry I hope VanguardLH manage to assist you in your
research, and please just don't mind other's here who have a different and
benign opinion about "security research". This is a public security NG and
it is a haven for security base inquiry.
