Without getting into the politics of the thing, these protests have been going on in New York for quite some tome now. The protesters are occupying what is essentially a privately owned park. When the city threatened to come in on the grounds that it was becoming a health hazard and needed to be cleaned, the protestors did not man the barricades, they manned brooms and mops.

Say what you want about New Yorkers but when we win a Super Bowl or World Series, we have a parade not a riot. When they lose there it is the same thing, (without the parade. :) ) Agree or not, these people have to be admired.

As far as I'm concerned as long as the riots don't affect the everyday lives of others who aren't directly involved with the protests or doesn't turn violent I don't mind, but I only agree in principle of the protests.

Yes it isn't fair that the rich, banks etc have been bailed out by those of low incomes and the middle class via these bailouts especially in Europe, at least the US taxpayers benefited with profits from the Government loans to banks, Europe has been effectively robbed by banks, hedge funds and the markets forcing the bailouts by fretting about countries that they say can't pay back money, which fair enough they seem right, but they took it over the top.

The rich will always stay rich and get richer that's the unfair part of capitalism unfortunately, but I'd rather have a free market than a communist market like China no matter how good it looks at the minute, then again China's local governments don't sound particularly healthy at the minute because of banks over lending to them.

What people seem to forget is that some of them are also partly responsible in this financial crisis, what is called the baby boomer generation, they didn't question the fact that they probably couldn't afford that £10,000 loan for a car or shouldn't have maxed out that credit card, or overstretched themselves with a mortgage that is too big.
They just borrowed, borrowed and borrowed more money, which jacked up house prices, especially in the UK where house prices are estimated to be around 20-25% overvalued.

I am more angry at those who borrowed irresponsibly whether it be lower, middle or higher incomes, I not trying to tar all people with the same brush as only some are responsible not all. Politicians, banks and some of the generation above me have all but put my future and those of similar age to me in jeopardy because they borrowed money so recklessly.
The way things are going with these protests against Government Austerity, if they had their way the young generation would be picking up the tab for the previous generations mess and also expect us to pay for their retirement as well, there is only ONE way to sort this mess out and actually leave something of an enjoyable future for myself and others and it is to accept these cuts no matter how bad they are and actually show that they want to try fix the problem they created rather than leave it to the young people trying to make something of their life.

It angers me that some have the cheek to protest when they partially created the problem from borrowing too much, which overstretched bank finances and so the story goes on, maybe they should pull their heads out of their backsides step back and take a minute to think that they are possibly partly responsible for this.

Remember the saying "You can't have your cake and eat it too".

Well rant over :argue:, as you can tell it really cheeses me off about these protests :)
