For some reason backing up my D: drive started taking over 8 hours.
Can't see any problems in the backup log. It's around 110GB of data
backing up to a LTO 2 backup tape. Is there any way of checking why it
    takes so long?

Run the backup job in the foreground and watch what happens.

That'd be 8 hours of joy in the middle of the night [IMG]
    Is there any other way?

Is D: compressed? Or have compressed (blue) files/folders in it?

Is D: in perfect shape, is it starting to fail? I've had hard drives
    that couldn't keep up with a 1x CD-burn, 150KB/sec

I'd suspect the drive or filesystem has problems...

A chkdsk might help, and then again, if the drive is having problems,
    may make things worse.

    HTH.

D: is not compressed, as to it's shape I'll have to check that. Thanks

    ==========

Run it on a Sunday afternoon. Working outside normal business hours is the
cross that all server admins have to bear.

    Grant. . . .

  8. Sometimes it may help to turn off antivirus protection while such lengthy
operations take place. I recently had to turn it off while I was copying
lare amount of data over the network..
