Now that I have removed Norton I will see if the pop-up window squares stop. I see no reason to pay for new license.

How long after using the removal tool should I expect these screens to keep popping up????? It is 8 pm, and I just took the laptop out of sleep mode and up pops the come-ons. When should they STOP??? I only removed the tool but did not reinstall anything.

Do you only get the pop ups when your are using a browser? By browser, I mean Chrome, Firefox, Edge, etc. Which browser are you using? There may be something in your browser now causing the pop-ups.

I am using Chrome browser. The pop-ups are still popping up. Since the messages said my Norton license has expired and they want to sell me a new one I just keep closing the windows. Just a sales attempt I figure. It keeps saying my computer may be infected with viruses. Never had this happen before. And nothing I recall ever found viruses.

You didn't answer my initial question: Do you only get the pop ups when you are using the browser?

    Exactly, Tony.
It sounds like it's a browser hijacker.

Open Chrome and click on the 3 veriticle dots in the upper right corner.
    Click on Extensions.
    Click on Manage Extensions.
Look for anything that looks like it might be related to Norton and remove it.
Here is what my Extensions page looks like. I should probably remove the Emisosft Browser Security extension because it's not needed now that I have the paid-for Malwarebtyes protection.

Is it better to use Google or a different browser? I tried DuckDuckGo search but still get the pop-ups. And I do not see an Extensions when click the 3 dots. NOW I see it
    It is under "More Tools."

Is there still a free Norton Antivirus or do they all cost now? I am still using windows 7 and the pop-ups keep telling me my "license has expired". Even though I used the Removal Tool. I have never paid anything for Norton that I recall.

I am looking for a free anti-virus program I could use since apparently everywhere I look says Norton Free IS NO MORE. Can anyone sugest a recommended free anti-virus program?? And I also wonder if I never had a paid-for Norton antivirus program how could I even HAVE a license that could now expire??? But it says in the pop-ups my license has expired.

And I just read THIS about Microsoft Security Essentials:
Microsoft Security Essentials reached end of service on January 14, 2020 and is no longer available as a download. Microsoft will continue to release signature updates (including engine) to service systems currently running Microsoft Security Essentials untill 2023. So maybe there is something Free I could replace it with???? Recommendations are welcome. I am too old to be getting new computers or upgrading to newer Windows 11, etc.

You're on Windows 7. I have my Windows 7 machine on the paid-for Malwarebytes. That's what I recommend.

Back to the topic at hand - What extensions did you find in your Chrome browser?

I believe I made another error. Due to an unrelated issue I had do a Quick Restore and the popups returned so it occurred to me The Quick Restore may have gotten it back like before. So I just now ran the removal tool again the same way. Bu now after restart I see the boxes pop up again. Am I doing something wrong? Or maybe I have to wait a little while. I just fonished all this.
I will have to recheck the browser thing and repost. I do not recall at the moment. First I want to be sure the removal tool worked and no more pop-ups. My next question will be "WHY NOT???" Still getting the pop-ups. I saw no reason to reinstall an expired license product so I did NOT do so. Right now I just want them to stop.

I just reopened the CHF window again a few times and see no new pop-ups. Maybe they will be gone. Will check for awhile and report. Thanks fo the help. I am a long way from computer repair.

    To Allheart 55 (Cindy E)
"Please download and run the Norton Removal Tool, Bill."

I have done this twice now. It seemed to remove them at first but due to a later unrelated mstake I had to do a quick restore and they came back again. So I tried removing it again. Now I am watching it to see if they stay gone.So far they have not appeared again. I thought maybe I had restored whatever I removed before so I repeated the removal instructions. If they return I will post again. I cannot understand why they do not STAY GONE. I am using the Google Chrome browser and DuckDuckGo search engine. Uh Oh......A pop-up just appeared and I closed it. Maybe they will stop. Or maybe I will change browsers?

What does the paid version of Malwarebytes cost? And if I never find any threats with the free do I need the paid?

I am sorry. I could not find Extensions until now because I had to click the 3 dots then choose "MORE TOOL". When I clicked that I chose and clicked Extensions under the "More Tools" label. See uploaded file for result. And the boxes are still popping up in bottom right corner. Cannot seem to stop them.

I was expecting to see something in there, but it looks pretty good.

Right now you're using Chrome and that's when you get the popups. Can you try using another broswer for a while? Maybe Firefox or Edge? We'd like to see if you get popups using one of those.

I just tried clicking one of the boxes and there were two choices: Block and Dont bock, and Done. I clicked the "block all notices from this site". Will let you know what happens. I did not see this option before but I can try Firefox or Edge as an alternative if they continue.
