After several days and nights of installing and uninstalling devices, drivers etc, I still find myself with no audio. All I have is the dreaded speaker icon with the red x. Having read several post in several forums, I found myself here. Its seems to be a common problem as I know for a fact I am not alone apparently it been a problem with no support for at least 2-3 years. Not one to give up I continue to seek answers and hopefully a solution... Who wants this one? Any and all help and/or suggestions appreciated.....

    Hi Allwomanhere.Welcome to CHF.
Have you been to Realtek and downloaded your HD Audio Codec Drivers?

Might not be Realtek (although most computers I've seen are generally Realtek Audio) as we haven't got the full computer specs, just know that it is a HP computer with AMD/ATI processor and graphics card.

Allwomanhere could you find out the model number of your HP computer, It looks to be a laptop based on the processor speed but need to know the model number so we can locate the correct drivers.

You could look for a label like this on the HP support site, where it indicates that it would be under the laptop battery or on the bottom of the laptop - http://h10025.www1.h...&lc=en#UseLabel

If it's a desktop there will likely be a similar label on the case of the computer somewhere.

Hi, as well as all the above,
by the title of the thread it suggests you have upgraded to Windows 7 but you don't say from what.
It would be of help to know what the previous operating system was, and also how did you perform the upgrade and where did you get the upgrade from please.
    Nev.
