When I run newsid v4.1 on the windows 2008 ent x64 server, it returns with
"NewSID was unable to access the Computer's SID" error.

Is it supported? If not, what is the alternative?

    Thanks

  2. Hello Roy,

Using NewSid was never supported from MS on any OS version. The only MS supported
    tool is sysprep.

    Look into:
    C:\windows\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe

    Best regards

  3. Run NewSID with RunAs Administrator.

I must agree with Meinolf. NewSid or any other SID changer doesn't do the
trick. There are many places in the reg that it misses, Also, it causes
problems with DCOM and the VSS, among other things, that a sysprepped image
take care of with no problems. I;ve seen anamolies with the SID changers in
the past and simply do not trust them.
