I recently got a new monitor the Asus VG278HE running at 144hz. But recently when i game and have pandora on my 2nd monitor or any programs whether its skype or even an internet browser my frames drop massively. I run around 200-280 fps when i play LoL but when i have a program up on the side shown on my 2nd monitor it seems to drop to around 20-30 fps. But when i close out the program on the side, it stops lagging. So basically i cant have other programs up and multitask like i used to, alt tabbing and doing other stuff while waiting for stuff and etc. I was wondering whats going on? Its as if im alt tabbing out of league thus creating the fps drop but im actually trying to play league. (if that makes any sense) Is its because of the 2 different refresh rates or is it just a setting that i must change? I run league on borderless so its easier to alt tab out and stuff but now i have to play on full screen so it doesnt create massive frame drops. So how do i fix this?

Hi, no game player myself, but other helpers who are, will need to know the full specifications of your computer, at the very least the make and model, or if upgraded or home built, the graphics card, processor, RAM memory, and mother board if known.

That information will be of great help please.

Yes, as Nev says, specifics about your system are needed but I can give one hint even without that info as I've run multiple monitors myself, up to 4 screens running off of 2 video cards. In normal usage you will not see any drop off in performance but, even though I'm not a gamer, I can see where a graphics intensive game could be severely affected. You MUST keep in mind that just like the rest of the system the video card has limits. When you run multiple monitors you are asking the card to multitask. They sort of tend to "cut themselves in half" when doing this giving equal priority to both monitors. This could seriously disrupt the performance of a graphics intensive game. Since you are alt/tabbing between apps anyway could you not do this on one monitor while playing and use the dual monitors in other cases? Depending on your video card you should be able to setup profiles for both modes. I did this with a dual monitor setup and threw the profiles to the taskbar so switching is a simple one click. Actually, with some cards, it is as simple as turning the second monitor on or off.
